The Conception

Hello everyone! Welcome to "Colin's Survivor Blog" (yes I know this is about as lame of a title as possible). I'm making this blog in anticipation of Survivor: Cagayan -- Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty, which starts just two weeks from today. I'll get to my thoughts about this season later. First, I'm sure you want to know more about the author of this blog: me. I am merely a 21-year old college student named Colin, and I have no real credibility to blog about anything. But that's the great thing about the internet! I've been a diehard fan of Survivor since the very first season, which aired when I was seven years old. From playing the computer game to collecting buffs, my Survivor fan-hood has never wavered -- not even when I had to endure Cook Islands and Fiji in back-to-back seasons.

I've contemplated blogging about Survivor for a few seasons now, and this is the season I finally went for it. I think this is a great season to start blogging. The cast of Survivor: Cagayan consists of all new players, which has many people excited as it is just the third time since Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains we've seen an entirely new cast. Like Survivor: One World, the most recent all-new player season, this season brings a unique twist to Survivor: a three tribe split based on the social stereotypes of Brawn, Brains, and Beauty, because apparently CBS has made a rule against casting people who are both smart and strong or beautiful. I think this twist will bring us a very exciting season of Survivor. It's going to be interesting to see how differently the game is played on all three tribes. For example, I think the game will move very quickly on the Brains tribe, while I expect the Beauty tribe to be less about strategy and more about cliques and who gets along with whom. I'll get deeper into my thoughts in future posts leading up to the premiere episode on February 26th.

I want to thank all of you who read this post and I hope you continue reading throughout the season. I'm very excited to blog about what should be another great season of Survivor, and I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts. Of course, if you have any feedback or questions, feel free to leave a comment underneath the post (even if you think this blog sucks). The only thing I ask is that you don't post any spoilers. I understand that plenty of people enjoy knowing who gets voted out before it happens on TV, but I am not one of them, and I wouldn't want other readers to be spoiled against their will either. Thanks!
